Cagayan de Oro City — Demonstrating a strong commitment to educational excellence and continuous professional development, Antonio J. Cañete, Jr., LPT, MM-EM, PEAC National Trainer for Cluster 2, Grades 1 to 3, and Director of Student Affairs and Services of Santo Nino College Foundation, Inc. (SNCFI), served as resource speaker and trainer during the regional training titled “Strengthening K–6 Instruction Through Standards-Based Curriculum, Aligned Assessment, and Evidence-Based Pedagogy.”

The training gathered administrators and teachers from Region X and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in Cagayan de Oro City. It provided educators with a meaningful venue to deepen their understanding of curriculum standards, assessment alignment, and effective instructional practices aimed at improving learner achievement in the elementary grades.

As a PEAC National Trainer, Mr. Cañete guided participants through discussions and workshops focused on strengthening classroom instruction through standards-based approaches and evidence-based teaching strategies. The sessions emphasized the importance of aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment to ensure that learning outcomes are meaningful, measurable, and responsive to the needs of today’s learners.

The activity also underscored the critical role of educators in building learning environments that promote academic excellence, critical thinking, collaboration, and learner-centered instruction. Through collaborative sessions, participants exchanged best practices and explored innovative approaches to improving teaching and learning across diverse school contexts.

The training supports SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening the professional competencies of teachers and school leaders in delivering effective and responsive instruction. It also reflects SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by expanding access to capacity-building opportunities for educators from Region X and BARMM, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by highlighting collaboration among educational institutions, professional organizations, and stakeholders committed to advancing quality basic education.
