Anchored on the theme, “Empowering Communities through Knowledge, Service, and Innovation,” the students and faculty of the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS), Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information System (BSAIS), and Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) of Santo Nino College Foundation, Inc. (SNCFI) successfully conducted a Community Extension Activity in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Barangay Lamba, Banga, South Cotabato on May 26, 2026. The initiative, attended by 50 youth participants composed mostly of Junior and Senior High School students, focused on Financial Literacy and Cybercrime Awareness, aiming to equip young individuals with practical knowledge and digital awareness essential in today’s modern society.

The activity featured informative discussions on financial literacy, emphasizing the importance of proper budgeting, saving, responsible spending, and financial planning to help participants cultivate wise money management habits at an early age. Simultaneously, a Cybercrime Awareness Seminar educated the youth on online safety, cyber threats, social media responsibility, cyberbullying, online scams, identity theft, and the importance of responsible digital behavior. Through engaging discussions and interactive learning sessions, participants were empowered with relevant skills and knowledge to make informed decisions both financially and digitally.

The partnership between SNCFI and the LGU of Barangay Lamba reflected a shared commitment to youth empowerment through education, service, and innovation. The active participation of the BSIS, BSAIS, and BSOA departments further highlighted the institution’s dedication to extending meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom while addressing contemporary issues that affect young people and communities.

Moreover, the activity aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting relevant and inclusive learning opportunities; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, through financial preparedness and responsible money management; SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, by expanding access to knowledge and opportunities for youth; SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by promoting cyber safety, awareness, and responsible digital citizenship; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through the collaborative efforts between SNCFI and the LGU of Barangay Lamba in delivering impactful community extension services. Through initiatives such as this, SNCFI continues to uphold its commitment to transformative education, community engagement, and sustainable development.
