Santo Nino College Foundation, Inc. (SNCFI) reinforced its commitment to campus safety and disaster preparedness through the Earthquake and Fire Drill for Safety Awareness and Preparedness held on June 22, 2026, at the SNCFI Grounds.

The activity formed part of the institution’s opening-day program, “Kilit-Anay sa SNCFI: Pride, Purpose, and Positive Energy,” and gathered students, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, and school administrators for a coordinated emergency response exercise.

Prior to the drill, Mr. Kenneth Jhon Ray De Asis, SNCFI Safety Officer, conducted a school safety and preparedness orientation. The session emphasized the importance of remaining alert, calm, and responsive during emergencies. Participants were reminded of proper earthquake response procedures, including the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” technique, as well as the importance of following designated evacuation routes and proceeding to assigned assembly areas after the shaking stops.

The Bureau of Fire Protection – Banga Fire Station also facilitated an orientation on fire safety and emergency response. Students and personnel were guided on basic fire prevention practices, the recognition of potential fire hazards, and the proper steps to take during a fire incident. The discussion highlighted the value of immediate reporting, orderly evacuation, and cooperation with school safety personnel and emergency responders.

During the afternoon session, the SNCFI community actively participated in the earthquake and fire drill simulation. The exercise allowed participants to apply the safety protocols discussed during the orientation, including responding promptly to alarm signals, evacuating classrooms and offices in an orderly manner, and proceeding to designated safe areas.

The drill served as a practical learning experience for students and personnel, reinforcing the idea that disaster preparedness requires discipline, awareness, and collective responsibility. By conducting safety exercises, SNCFI aims to ensure that members of the school community are equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and readiness needed to respond appropriately during emergencies.

The activity supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by promoting the protection and safety of students, faculty, and staff; SDG 4: Quality Education, by integrating safety education and disaster preparedness into the school environment; and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by strengthening disaster resilience and risk reduction within the academic community. It also contributes to SDG 13: Climate Action through increased awareness of disaster risks and preparedness measures, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by fostering discipline, cooperation, accountability, and responsible citizenship.

Through the Earthquake and Fire Drill for Safety Awareness and Preparedness, SNCFI continues to uphold its responsibility of providing a secure, resilient, and learner-centered environment where safety remains a shared priority.
