As part of its commitment to promoting student welfare and responsible citizenship, Santo Nino College Foundation, Inc. (SNCFI) participated in the Capacity Training on Safe and Legal Migration for Various Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), represented by Ms. Juliet C. Arellano-Castañas, Quality Assurance Officer.

The capacity training featured two expert-led sessions. Mr. Clark B. Briz, Chief Labor and Employment Officer of the Migrant Workers Processing Division, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW)–NCR, facilitated the Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS): Promoting Safe and Legal Migration among Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), highlighting the importance of preparing aspiring overseas workers through proper orientation and legal migration pathways. Meanwhile, Atty. Eric D. Dollete, Director III of the Migrant Workers Protection Bureau, delivered the session "Anti-Illegal Recruitment and Trafficking in Persons: Strengthening Awareness for Safe and Legal Migration," emphasizing the dangers of illegal recruitment and trafficking in persons, the rights and protection of migrant workers, and the importance of pursuing overseas employment through legal and government-accredited channels.

The primary beneficiaries of this initiative are SNCFI students, graduating learners, alumni, faculty, staff, and their families, who can apply the knowledge gained when exploring employment opportunities overseas. Through its Quality Assurance Office and student development initiatives, SNCFI will cascade the knowledge gained by integrating safe migration awareness into student orientations, seminars, career guidance programs, and community extension activities in collaboration with government agencies and partner organizations. In doing so, the College aims to cultivate informed, vigilant, and responsible members of the community who can help prevent illegal recruitment and human trafficking.

This initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting lifelong learning and awareness; SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by advocating safe and legal employment; SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by helping combat illegal recruitment and trafficking in persons; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening collaboration between SNCFI, the Department of Migrant Workers, and other stakeholders in promoting safe, informed, and ethical migration.
