On February 20, 2026, the SNCFIโ€“BECEd Department conducted a mock board examination as a fair, transparent, and objective selection process for its official participants to the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) Quiz Bee Competition. The initiative aimed to rigorously assess studentsโ€™ knowledge, critical thinking skills, and mastery of their field of specialization.


Designed to simulate the pressure and structure of a professional licensure examination, the mock board created an environment that challenged participants to demonstrate not only content proficiency but also analytical reasoning, time management, and composure under pressure. Faculty members carefully prepared and validated the test materials to ensure alignment with current academic standards and the competencies required in teacher education. The examination covered major professional education subjects and core areas in the Bachelor of Elementary Education program, ensuring a comprehensive and merit-based evaluation of each candidateโ€™s readiness.


The activity was spearheaded by Richelle Rose Rivera-Subillaga, BECEd Program Coordinator, who underscored the importance of upholding academic excellence and integrity in selecting the institutionโ€™s official representatives. Under her leadership, the department ensured that the process remained systematic, objective, and reflective of the standards expected in professional education. Her guidance further reinforced the departmentโ€™s commitment to preparing students not only for academic competitions but also for future licensure examinations and professional practice.



Beyond identifying the most qualified representatives, the mock board examination served as a formative academic experience. It provided students with valuable exposure to the rigor of competitive assessments, allowing them to recognize their strengths, address areas for improvement, and build the confidence necessary to excel in high-level academic engagements. Throughout the activity, integrity and transparency were emphasized, reinforcing the principles of merit-based selection and institutional accountability.


Through initiatives such as this, the SNCFIโ€“BECEd Department continues to uphold its commitment to excellence and to shaping future educators who are ready to represent the institution with competence, confidence, and professionalism.


Moreover, the activity aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by promoting inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities. It also supports SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, as the transparent and objective selection process reflects accountability, fairness, and institutional integrity. In fostering academic collaboration and participation in national organizations such as PAFTE, the department likewise contributes to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, strengthening linkages that enhance educational development and professional excellence.
