Dr. Jun Y. Badie, PhD, Academic Director of Santo Nino College Foundation, Inc. (SNCFI), is serving as part of the accreditation delegation of the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU) during its institutional visit to Holy Cross College of Davao, taking place from September 29-30, 2025. Having completed the required accreditor training, Dr. Badie was designated as Chairperson for Area 5, Student Services, and Area 6, External Relations. The visit brings together accreditors from several esteemed institutions, including the University of the Philippines Diliman, Xavier UniversityโAteneo de Cagayan, Miriam College, University of Negros Occidental, Saint Maryโs University, and San Juan De Dios Educational Foundation.
This engagement reflects the collegial and collaborative spirit of PAASCUโs work in strengthening the quality of higher education nationwide. It is both a responsibility and an opportunity, as accreditors not only evaluate but also learn from each otherโs practices. For Dr. Badie, participation in the process provides a platform to contribute expertise, gain new insights, and further enhance his professional understanding of quality assurance in Philippine education.
The significance of this role extends to the global development framework set by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The review of student services advances SDG 4, Quality Education, by ensuring inclusive, equitable, and holistic support for learners. It also connects with SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being, as student programs directly support mental health and overall wellness. The focus on external relations contributes to SDG 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth, by reinforcing links between education and employability, while also reflecting SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, through the collaborative nature of accreditation itself. By emphasizing accessibility and fairness in services, the process also speaks to SDG 10, Reduced Inequalities.
Dr. Badieโs role as an accreditor does not imply PAASCU accreditation for SNCFI but rather demonstrates the contribution of a trained evaluator to a national process of assessment and improvement. His participation provides transparent evidence of professional engagement, reinforces his commitment to educational quality, and contributes to the broader mission of raising standards in higher education.
